#fridayfive

I’m going to start new blog series and one them is going to be #fridayfive. Every Friday I will post five things of literally ANYTHING. When I am photographing weddings in Tahoe, I am reading! I love love love to read. You know that kid that goes to a buffet and their eyes are bigger than their stomach and gets way too much food? Well, that is me with online book shopping. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to a bookstore and spending time feeling covers and pages of books. But how can you beat the price of books on Amazon or my new favorite site… Thriftbooks.com. No this is not an advertisement, this is coming from the girl who ordered 32 books in her first order because you get 15% your first order. It also has a system like Starbucks where you get stars every time you buy a book and then adds up to a free book! Oh and not to mention, free shipping on orders over $10. #bookaddict

The number one way on how I decide the next book I read is recommendations from other people. So I figured I will compile a list of five of my favorite books that I have read, maybe it’ll inspire you to pick one up.

Oh, and I should probably add that I also run a monthly girl boss book club. If you’re interested in being added, let me know! We read one book a month, in the category of business and self improvement. We meet at the end of the month and it’s definitely a girls night!

Finish; Give Yourself the Gift of Done

by Jon Acuff

This book was GOLD on nailing the nail on the head about procrastination. I get great ideas in my head, and then I overthink them. I build up this massive expectation in my head of how I want it to turn out…. Then I ‘don’t do it. Because I feel like I ‘can’t get it exactly the way I picture it in my head and think why do it? Oh, the lies of perfectionism. DONE is better than perfect. Seriously it is a motivator!!

Triggers: Creating Behavior That Lasts–Becoming the Person You Want to Be

By: Marshall Goldsmith

This book is DEEP! All about habits and changing habits are the absolute hardest thing to do as an adult. It goes through the breakdown of why and gives you the tools on how to accomplish it. The biggest tool is something so incredibly simple, and anyone can do it. I took pages and pages of notes from this book. Put yourself into accountability, people!

Fifty Shades of Grey

By: EL James

Yup.. ‘I’m putting it out there. I read all three books in less than 2 weeks. I couldn’t stop it like when an episode ends with a massive cliffhanger on Netflix, and you sacrifice your next hour because you just have to find out what happens next. I am a sucker for a love story.

Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals

By: Rachel Hollis

If you’re a Rachel Hollis fangirl like me, then you just read that in ‘Rachel’s voice (you know you did). This book touches over all the excuses we make for dropping our dreams and goals. The best part, she gives you the simplest way to start tackling your goal without making you feeling overwhelmed or thinking you are out of your league.

Super Immunity: The Essential Nutrition Guide for Boosting Your Body’s Defenses to Live Longer, Stronger, and Disease Free

By Joel Fuhrman

This book is an excellent summary of all things for a better immune system. And no, the secret is not through medicine but what we put into our bodies!! This was another book I read really fast, almost the entire thing on a flight to Iceland. The book goes into all the lies that we are made to believe about the food industry.. you know like the food pyramid that we were taught in elementary school, well there’s more than that! At the end of the book, he includes 85 plant-based recipes and a two-week meal plan.
