Rio Seco Engagement / Vanessa and Keith / Paso Robles Engagement

Crazy winds engagement at Rio Seco

A few months ago I had a booth at the Paso Robles Inn Bridal show. It was the first time that I participated in this show since I usually do the Madonna Inn show. I prefer the Paso show, it is more intimate and not as many vendors, as the Madonna Inn show is bombarded with vendors and seems to be overwhelming to many of the brides that attend. For this Paso Show, the Inn raffled off something from each booth. Instead of making a cute gift basket, I wanted to give something that allowed me to connect with whoever won it, so I donated an engagement session. As the show went on through the day, winners were called every fifteen minutes. In the last minutes of the show, my engagement session wasn’t called off for a winner yet, then I finally heard who won! The couples came over to introduce themselves; Vanessa and Keith. They were so excited they had won a free engagement session with me and as we were exchanging information their names were called again!! They had won a DJ package with the booth next to me (I want some of their luck!).

Over the next few weeks Vanessa and I emailed back and fourth planning their engagement session. We decided to do their engagement session at their wedding venue, Rio Seco Winery and Vineyard in Paso Robles The first time we scheduled, we had to cancel the day before since the forecast was 98% rain and of course that day ended up being 100% dry and sunny. We were finally able to reschedule and the day was extremely windy but that doesn’t stop me! Vanessa and Keith was such a fun couple to photograph, they are filled with laughs, fun and excitement. Even though the wind was hurricane status, we all made the best of it and had a great time.

I can’t wait to capture their wedding in October and capture more of their fun personalities!

Spearhead Coffee, Lifestyle Engagement Session

This engagement session is one of my favorites!

Carly wanted to do something a little different than what I’m use to; she wanted to have more of a lifestyle approach to the engagement session. (Lifestyle is less posed, more about their everyday lives, and to tell a story about the people in the photo.) After brainstorming ideas on where to shoot we ended up at Spearhead Coffee in downtown Paso Robles. It is such a cute little coffee house. It is very open and bright with the big windows and bar in the front, a hand written menu on the wall and my favorite part is the awesome hanging light bulbs by the counter. I started photographing the two of them just drinking their coffee, sitting in the front window talking and laughing with each other and also Carly being a cookie monster, which turned out adorable!

They also have a little one named Charlie; he was asleep in the stroller the entire time, which was perfect. I also captured the walking with the stroller along the street as we walked into the park across the street. They brought the letter “M” for their last name, so I incorporated the letter in a few shots in the park too.

Something I love is to find out how my clients met, so I usually ask this at every session. Carly use to work as barista at Starbucks and Charlie’s friend was her co-worker. One night day they got introduced. Later that night she came into work to get coffee that he was also there and that’s when they really made they’re connection and they have been together every day since then. And now Spearhead is one of their favorite places to get coffee, so it was the perfect spot to do their engagement pictures.

Carly and Charlie are perfect for each other and I can’t wait to be part of their wedding day!

Please contact me if you would like to book a lifestyle session, I would love to do more!
